Preparing For 'Big School'

Preparing For 'Big' School

Each Pre-School session generally follows the timetable shown in a typical day, with the exception, that during the term which follows Easter, the older children are structured to incorporate an introduction to start to prepare the children for First School during school transfer days.

We recognise that whichever first school you choose for your child, it is an important transition. We therefore work very closely with Reception teachers of all the local first schools to ensure that that transition is smooth. However, all the older children attending do participate in visiting the Reception Classroom at Church Lench First School or have a chance to listen to the Reception teacher when they visit the Pre-School, and of course ask questions if they would like.

This gentle introduction to First School is a good social experience for the children, lasting approximately 30 minutes on each occasion and always supervised by Pre-School staff.
